Yes you are right about people being confused why the present is important. In terms of getting confused on how to use awareness, I take it a step back and ask clients to close their eyes and draw their attention to any body part. I then ask: while you’re eyes are closed, were you aware of multiple body parts simultaneously or each one at a time? This way, they learn to direct their awareness instead of it being a fleeting experience.
